Copying an existing Video

Before we can start making our music video, we need to learn and practise the process of planning, recording and editing footage. We began this by going over the basics and practising by copying an existing music video as a whole class. The video we copied is 'Teenage Dirtbag' by Wheatus. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jJVRcCdvyY)

I found that the techniques were a lot easier to understand and get used to once we were doing the practical task as a lot of the learning was a bit confusing when you couldn't physically see what was happening. I did take a lot of notes in these classes which were then useful later on, and I made them into a powerpoint so that it was all together in order and I could work with when we're doing our actual video. A lot of the technical information regarding the cameras settings, such as exposure and white balance is virtually the same as things I use in Photography all the time so it was easy for me to grasp the concept of making sure the settings were correct.

Obviously we didnt want to waste too much time on this project when we've got the more important video to get done, so alot of the video is actually missing; we just focused on making sure the bits that we had were in the right places with the right timings. This was made easier by the story boards we'd been using when shooting, which has emphasised the need for them in our own planning process.
Heres the 'Finished' video:
